SURFING – The ultimate experience of mindfulness and being in the now, while feeling totally connected to body, breathing, and the wondrous healing nature of the Ocean. I have always wanted to integrate my deep love for surfing and the ocean with my chosen profession of teaching yoga. This is what the Yoga and Surf Adventure for Women is all about!
We will create a safe learning environment for women to explore the magic of surfing whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced intermediate. We will have professional instructors from a highly acclaimed Sayulita surf school teaching us in small groups (not more than 4:1 students-to-instructor ratio) for four days (two days, then a rest day, then two more days).
The yoga that I will be teaching will be focused on strengthening the muscles needed for effective paddling (and stretching them at the end of the day after our surf outings), cultivating better balance, and learning good physical positioning and technique for the most efficient and rewarding surf experiences. This will be a sensational adventure!!
**Learning Stand-up paddle surfing instead of traditional surfing is an option; you can choose which you prefer.
Elana Vollen. In fifteen years of teaching, Elana has cultivated a teaching style that is alignment-based, and logically thought out in terms of sequencing and structure yet fluid and graceful and not so full of words that you can’t tune into your own breath.
We come together for practice, to lift each other up and celebrate life, not focus on how we compare to others or all that we can?t do. Every asana is a poem that we offer up with our bodies, to the Divine! I am just there as a guide and to make sure we offer it safely.
The retreat package includes:
- Nine yoga classes with an active vinyasa-alignment class in the morning and a gentle in class in the afternoon Seven days/six nights of lodging
- A welcoming reception upon arrival with beverages and snacks
- A daily breakfast
- Three delicious dinners
- Transportation to and from the airport (unless arriving/departing other than on retreat dates)

This year, there are two main tiers of accommodation: $1595 is the price per person for a Premium room, $1795 is the price per person for a new suite. These are the newest rooms in the hotel and they are very spacious and include 2 Queen beds and a private veranda.
There are also a couple of other upgrade options: A slightly larger Premium room with additional windows, and a two-room Villa which has a living room and kitchen and can accommodate 3-4 people. Please contact me by email for pricing or any other questions: firstname.lastname@example.org
**Please note: Price of retreat does not include airfare. Direct flights and good flight times can be found on many airlines, including United, Alaska Air, and Virgin. There will be an earlier and later shuttle on arrival day and you will be grouped in the one closest to your arrival so there may be a little waiting involved depending on your flight times. Please send me your flight info as soon as you have booked.

8:15 a.m. – Optional meditation
8:30 – 9:45 a.m. – Morning yoga practice
10:00 a.m. – Breakfast
10:45 a.m. – Meet in hotel lobby to go to surf school
11:00-3:00 p.m – Surf lessons in Punta Mita
4:30-5:45 p.m. – Evening yoga practice
7:30 p.m. – Dinner at Hotel
